Red Wings Report: Notes, Quotes

--With a relatively healthy and deep roster and the third-best record in the league, Wings general manager Ken Holland felt no urgency to make a move Monday at the NHL's trade deadline. He talked to some teams but wasn't close to a deal. The only way the Wings could have added a player was to shed a salary, which they were not inclined to do.

--Drew Miller was a healthy scratch Saturday in Buffalo, which stung because he was denied a chance to play against his brother, goaltender Ryan, in front of family and friends. A determined Miller returned to the lineup on Monday and recorded his first career two-goal game. As the Wings regain their health, they will have two extra forwards, creating competition among several third- and fourth-line players to remain in the lineup.

QUOTE TO NOTE
"After we got the first one, we found ways to get the puck in the net from all directions. Just kept shooting and shooting. Guys were doing a good job getting to the net and finding the back of it." -- Wings center Darren Helm.
