Red Wings Reassign Andersson To AHL

Detroit, MI...The Detroit Red Wings today announced that forward Joakim Andersson has been reassigned to the Grand Rapids Griffins (AHL). Andersson, 22, was recalled by Detroit on December 27, and made his NHL debut later that evening versus the St. Louis Blues at Joe Louis Arena. The 6'2", 190-lb. center appeared in a total of four games during his first-ever stint with Detroit (0G-0A-0P). Andersson has also skated in 29 games with Grand Rapids (8G-9A-17P) this season, his second with the organization.

Currently 25-13-1 on the 2011-12 NHL campaign, Detroit will next face the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday night (7:00 p.m. – FSD & 97.1 The Ticket) at the Air Canada Centre. The Red Wings will next play at home on Thursday, January 12 at 7:30 p.m. versus the Phoenix Coyotes. The first 7,500 fans in attendance for this 'Bobblehead Thursday' match will receive a free Danny Cleary bobblehead compliments of Dodge RAM, the official truck of the Detroit Red Wings.
