Puppy Survives 2-Story Tumble In Detroit
DETROIT (WWJ) - A 4-month-old German Shepard mix is recovering in the care of the Michigan Humane Society after falling from a second-story porch in Detroit.
The puppy, now named Flutter, was cleaned up and vaccinated. When veterinary staff staffers noticed she was having difficulties walking and putting weight on her front two legs, an x-ray determined the legs were fractured.
The pooch was fitted with pink casts on both legs.
Said MHS rescue driver Stacey Bean, "It's better that we do it now when she's young and still growing, instead of later because it will be an easier transition once she heals."
Flutter is recovering from her injuries in a foster home. "They are gonna be some challenges, actually — baby gates that need to be put up, you know, blocking off stairways, putting down rugs to help protect her from sliding out of control," Bean said.
Flutter's recovery could take up to six weeks or longer. Once she's fully recovered, the Humane Society will put her up for adoption.
