Postal Workers Rally Against Delivery Cuts
The U.S. Postal Service wants to cut back to five days and close some post offices across the country, in an effort to save money.
Sally Davidow, with the postal workers' union, says the proposed cuts would hurt the public in the long run.
"More and more people rely on the mail to get medicine, to get prescriptions, catalogues, to conduct business," Davidow said.
"Postal service on Saturday is very important to the American people," she said.
Among the speakers at Tuesday's rally was Reverend Jesse Jackson who urged the crowd not to give up their fight to save jobs.
"They're cutting public transportation, laying off drivers. They're cutting public housing... cutting public education, laying off teachers. The post office workers are saying no!" Jackson said.
Any change in the mail delivery schedule must be approved by Congress.
