Police: Michigan Farm Employee Killed In Bull Attack

ALGOMA TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - A man attacked and killed by a bull on a western Michigan farm has been identified as a 60-year-old employee of Spartan Farms.

The Kent County sheriff's office reports that Thomas Hammond was working at a farm Tuesday in Algoma Township when the bull slammed its head into him several times.

Hammond was in a barn at the time and the bull had broken free from other workers trying to load the animal into a trailer outside.

Workers were able to separate the bull from Hammond and remove him from the garage, but he was later pronounced dead at the scene.

County animal control officers responded to the farm north of Grand Rapids and found no violations.

Spartan Farms is based in Sparta, Michigan.
