A treasurer with a suburban Detroit soccer club has been charged with stealing more than $100,000 from the nonprofit organization.
Thirty-eight-year-old Brian Molloy of Farmington was arraigned Monday in Livonia district court on one count of embezzlement over $100,000.
Livonia Police Detective Michael Mockeridge tells the Detroit Free Press thefts from the Livonia City Soccer Club began in the summer of 2008, and were reported Sept. 17 by two board members after a review of past bank statements. Molloy was removed from his post Monday.
Police believe Molloy used the money to pay bills and make purchases.
Molloy could not immediately be reached for comment.
He is free on $25,000 bond.
An Oct. 14 preliminary exam is scheduled.
