Police: Gas Line Explodes When Teen Girl Crashes Lexus Into Mobile Home

HARTLAND TOWNSHIP (WWJ) - Drug use may have been a factor, police say, when a 17-year-old girl lost control of her car and struck a mobile home, causing a gas line to rupture and explode.

Michigan State Police say it happened shortly after 10 p.m. Monday at the Hartland Meadows mobile home park — in the 13000-block of Denver Drive in Hartland Township, north of Ann Arbor.

According to troopers with the Brighton Post, a preliminary investigation shows the teen, who was driving a white 2003 Lexus, may have been using drugs prior to the crash.

She was taken by EMS to University of Michigan Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

No one else was hurt in the incident, police said, but the home suffered damage from the explosion and resulting fire.

An investigation is ongoing.

The driver's name has not been released.
