Police Believe Royal Oak Burglar Planned Sex Assault
ROYAL OAK (WWJ) - Police believe a Royal Oak woman may have narrowly avoided a sexual assault.
Officers said when the woman arrived at her home on Durham late Sunday morning, she noticed things out of place and saw a man running from her back porch. She ran to a neighbor's house and called police, who responded quickly and caught the man.
Police said the suspect, 30-year-old Aundrey Wiley of Pontiac, had written directions to the woman's home, along with a knife, zip-ties, a roll of duct tape, rubber gloves and condoms in his car.
Police said Wiley has an extensive criminal history and is a registered sex offender. They believe he was lying in wait for the victim.
Wiley was arraigned at the 44th District Court on the charge of Home Invasion 1st Degree. He remains jailed on a $500,000 bond.
