Play-by-PLay Guy Gets Railroaded
There is a wild story brewing out of Indianapolis and I have a quick
thought on it. First of all, could you imagine some of the things
that Dan Miller and Jim Brandstatter say to each other during timeouts
of Lions' games? Certainly those two quality guys get frustrated,
just like every other Lion fan, and they express it.. just not on the
radio. They are smart. They know better.
On Sunday, Indianapolis Colts radio man Bob Lamey, a legend in the
state of Indiana, and long-time voice of the Colts, ripped Peyton
Manning during a commercial break. He was overly frustrated with
Manning's play and let out a fan-like rant that for some reason was
being recorded back at the radio station. So what you say? Well..
the AM flagship PLAYED IT ON THE AIR!!!! Lamey apologized to Manning
and it sounds like all is forgiven, but I just cannot believe that
some of the people at that station would chuck Lamey under the bus
like that. I met Bob many years ago and he seemed alright to me, but
I do not know him well. He is a HUGE Colts homer and you can hear it
in his call. I think that is weak. I have called hundreds of games
and certainly have gotten frustrated during breaks, but I know that I
am OFF-AIR when I make those comments. That is why they are made
OFF-AIR. I feel for Lamey today. There is a lot of jealousy in our
business and now you can add back stabbing, especially in Indy. Here
is the link to the story.
