PAT CAPUTO: Outcome of Game 1 Just One Loss For The Detroit Tigers, But Nonetheless Very Disappointing

A reminder before we even get started.

It's just one game. It doesn't mean the series is over.

Still, the Tigers' 3-2 loss to the Texas Rangers in Game One of the American League Championship Series Saturday was disappointing.

The Tigers had every opportunity to win it in the early innings. They didn't get the big hit that could have broken the game open against Rangers' starter C. J. Wilson, who was hit hard by Tampa Bay in the opener of an American League Division Series.

Late in the game, the Tigers just stopped hitting and didn't threaten the Rangers' bullpen at all.
