PAT CAPUTO: Five Reasons Why The Lions Will Finish Respectable

If there was ever a team that needs to regroup, it's the Lions. 
So their bye week has arrived at a really good time. 
No Lions game this Sunday equals a good thing. 
With a 1-5 start, the Lions' chances of reaching the playoffs are extremely slim, and leaning toward none. 
But a postseason appearance wasn't the expectation coming into 2010. 
It was more that the Lions make significant improvement. Progress. Take a step foward. 
That remains possible, maybe even probable. 
I don't see the Lions being ahead of the curve at this stage of the season. If anything, they are behind it. Much has been made about how the Lions were "jobbed" at Chicago, and that it turned their season in the wrong direction before it even got started. Or how they have played a number of "close" games. Or how the Lions have suffered numerous injuries, most significantly to quarterback Matthew Stafford.
