Opening Weekend At The Detroit Symphony Orchestra

DETROIT (WWJ) - It's time to hear some beautiful music, as the Detroit Symphony Orchestra takes center stage in the Max M. Fisher Music Building Saturday night.

DSO Spokeswoman Gabrielle Poshadlo spoke with WWJ about how they are preparing for a great season.

"We're all about communicating with each other and making sure we're all on the same page, I think that's key. But, you know, as far as things for the public, I mean, there are a lot of new initiatives that we're taking. And, we're bringing back our young professionals group, so that's really exciting."

Saturday night will be the North American premiere of Michel Camilo's Piano Concerto Number 2, but Poshadlo said there's a lot to look forward to over the season.

"We have Neil Sedaka coming, we have a tribute to Elvis, we have Gershwin. So, there's a little something for everyone."

Poshadlo said the DSO is offering special ticket prices for adults under 30 and students, in an effort to encourage Metro Detroit's youth to enjoy the Orchestra.

Concerts take place on Saturday, October 8 and Sunday, October 9 at 3 p.m. For more information, visit
