Man Found Murdered On Detroit's West Side
Police are scouring the area of Coyle south of McNichols with flashlights looking for clues as to why the body of a man in his 20's was found in the middle of the street early this morning.
Neighbors are standing on their porches, talking on their cellphones telling friends and neighbors what happened. Exactly what took place is not yet clear, but one neighbor tells WWJ's Ron Dewey the victim may have been running from something at the time. He says they have no more trouble in this neighborhood than any other, but nothing like this.
The body of the young man remains in the middle of the street as crime scene investigators snap photos, take measurements and try to make sense of what took place this early morning on Coyle between Puritan and McNichols.
WWJ has learned the victim was apparently beaten to death and left out on the street, the results of the violence discovered just after 3:00 a.m. this morning. The circumstances leading up to his death are still part of the ongoing investigation, anything beyond that is speculation. Neighbors say they heard nothing, but were awakened by the flashing lights of patrol cars arriving at the scene.
