Local Food Pantry Running Low On Food
PONTIAC (WWJ) - The Lighthouse of Oakland County is sounding the alarm: Its food pantry is running dangerously low.
Lighthouse CEO John Ziraldo says, "hunger knows no season."
Parents find it particularly hard to keep kids fed during the summer months when they are home from school all day. He says donations are down and many people are on vacation.
Ziraldo says many families who come for summer food help have one or both parents working, but they just aren't bringing enough money home to keep everyone fed.
Especially needed: high protein foods such as tuna and peanut butter and jelly.
