Link Engineering Opens Dearborn Test Center

Plymouth-based Link Engineering Co. this week announced it had acquired a 120,000-square-foot building in Dearborn.

The company said the acquisition will double Link's current vehicle testing capacity while providing additional capacity for laboratory operations.

The new Dearborn building includes about 80,000 square feet of high bay floor space for both laboratory and vehicle testing activities, in addition to approximately 19,000 square feet of first floor office and analytical and measurement laboratory space. Another 21,000 square feet of space is available on the second floor for future expansion.

The building is now open for vehicle testing activities. Link said the new Dearborn building will serve as the company's technical headquarters to support Link's test operations throughout the world.

Vehicle testing operations have been fully established in the new facility and Link is in the midst of populating the remaining floor space for laboratory activities, including inertia dynamometers, noise-vibration-harshness, environmental, fatigue, various forms of cyclical bench testing and a chassis dynamometer.

From a laboratory perspective, the technical center is a further expansion of the laboratories in Detroit, which will remain fully operational. The new facility's laboratory space will be filled with a blend of new equipment, transferred assets and customer-owned equipment.

"The Dearborn facility demonstrates a continued commitment to our customers as we strategically grow our business and enhance our capabilities to meet the demands of an evolving transportation industry," said Jerry Curtis, Link's director of test operations.

Link Engineering Co. designs, develops, installs, and operates a wide array of test systems. Link is a leader in the development of test systems for the automotive, truck, and aerospace industries. The products evaluated on Link's test systems include brakes (automotive, aircraft, truck, railroad, and many more applications), transmissions, clutches, axles, other driveline components, steering systems, springs, tires, wheels, and a variety of other components.
