(CBS DETROIT) —  The Detroit Fire Department is investigating after a fire burned through multiple homes on Detroit's east side Friday morning.

Officials with the fire department say there are no reported injuries.

Flames could be seen on at least three houses in the area of East Davison Street and Luce Avenue, with two houses heavily damaged. At least six fire trucks and an ambulance responded to the fire.

One woman is now displaced and left to find a temporary place to stay.

"The fire department woke us up and said the house was on fire and we came out. We're not sure what happened or how it started or what," one woman, who did not want to be identified, told CBS News Detroit. "There's a lot of water damage and the windows are broken out from the fire department."

Fire officials say two of the houses were vacant, and the fire started in one of those homes, quickly ripping through the others.

"Someone was living there but he wasn't there at the time, but we've seen him. He was a squatter," one neighbor said.

The homes burned so badly that the structure collapsed, leading to firefighters being unable to search inside.

Hours later, flames were visible yet again, and crews were called back to tackle the fire.

Now all that's left is a foundation turned to ash. Neighbors are devastated by the damage.

"That house on the end they just fixed it up real nice. It was beautiful, and now it's gone," another neighbor told CBS News Detroit off camera.

The Detroit Fire Department is working to find out the cause. The American Red Cross is working with the woman who was displaced.
