Joe's Crab Shack Takes 'No Tipping' Policy Nationwide
WARREN (WWJ) - Joe's Crab Shack is the first national restaurant chain to try it: they're telling their diners not to tip. Instead of tipping, the chain will pay workers -- wait staff and bar staff -- a standard hourly wage that is higher.
They say the policy will make it less likely that the wait staff will leave.
How do diners feel? Brian Ellison was eating at the Joe's Crab Shack in Warren
"I agree, I think paying them a solid salary so they don't have to rely on people's gratuity is a good thing," said Ellison.
The move comes as Joe's Crab Shack has a more than six percent drop in sales.
