Joe Louis' Former Home In Detroit's Boston-Edison District Up For Sale [PHOTOS]

DETROIT (WWJ) - If you're looking for real estate in Detroit, a home with a punch of history has just hit the market.

A rehabbed home once owned by boxing great Joe Louis is up for sale, and the price tag is just $280,000. The century old brick and stucco house at 1683 Edison Street, near Rosa Parks and West Chicago boulevards, is in the city's Boston-Edison district.

It's not clear when the Brown Bomber lived at the home, but his family moved to Detroit in the mid-1920s when Louis was a child.

The 2,433 square-foot home was built in 1916 and is completely renovated with an open floor plan, four bedrooms and two-and-a-half bathrooms, one of which contains a restored claw-foot tub. The listing says the home offers vintage charm with modern amenities, including granite counter-tops, stainless steel appliances and two-car garage.

More than a dozen people have already scheduled walk-through tours of the home, according to the Detroit Free Press.
