Jeff Riger's Lions News And Notes 12-23-10
Lions were back on the practice field on Thursday however the biggest question for the upcoming game against the Dolphins was not answered. Head Coach Jim Schwartz sticking with his original statements saying he will probably not name a starting quarterback until Sunday. He did speak about both of his candidates, Shaun Hill and Drew Stanton's mindset saying "I think both guys are mentally ready to play, I don't think that's the question. Physically is probably going to be the question with both of those guys." Both Stanton and Hill shared first string reps at practice.
Safety Louis Delmas also uncertain about his chances to play Sunday after suffering a concussion against the Buccaneers. It's about how I'm feeling." Delmas said. "Obviously I'm having a little bit of doubt about going out there and causing anymore damage. I'm not saying that there is damage but I don't want to risk anything. It's up to the coaches to give me that ok, if so I will [play]."
One of the main thing that the Lions will have to focus on when taking on Miami is the Dolphins use of the wildcat on offense. Defensive coordinator Gunther Cunningham saying "it's a defensive coaches nightmare because you have to put in a lot of hours and prepare your players." Cunnigham also calling out Miami running back Ricky Williams saying "I want him to know this, if he hits one of our db's [defensive backs] in the back on a crack block then I'm coming on the field. He's had a couple of knock outs, but they have been not legal.
