Jeep Owners Hope Public Pressure Will Lead To Recall
WASHINGTON, D.C. (WWJ) - People who've been involved in fiery jeep crashes plan to put some public pressure on Chrysler.
They'll be protesting at a Chrysler dealership in the Washington D.C. area, trying to get the company to go along with the government's request to recall 2.7 million Jeeps. Chrysler says its own internal testing shows the jeeps are not a fire hazard and has refused to issue a recall. Protesters plan to present petitions today from Jeep owners who would like to see a recall. Some analysts say that recall could cost Chrysler $500 million.
WWJ AutoBeat Reporter Jeff Gilbert, meanwhile, says the government's next move in the case could come as early as Tuesday.
