Injuries Beginning To Take Toll On Red Wings

The Red Wings were fortunate to stay relatively healthy for the first three-quarters of the season. Their key players played almost every game and the team remained near the top of the overall standings.

They haven't been as lucky lately. Now, injuries are mounting. And key players are getting hurt.

The Wings lost two more players in Sunday's 2-1 loss to Chicago at Joe Louis Arena. Goaltender Jimmy Howard left after one period with a lower-body injury and defenseman Jakub Kind departed just minutes into the game due to an upper-body injury. Howard is listed as day-to-day. The extent of Kindl's injury was uncertain.

The team already was missing its leading scorer (Pavel Datsyuk), best defenseman (Nicklas Lidstrom) and another third-pair defenseman (Jonathan Ericsson).
