Honoring Young Designers

Some big honors for the auto designers of the future.

The winners of the 22nd annual Michelin and College for Creative Studies Design competition were announced at a Wednesday evening banquet.

• Vehicle Design
  1st – Kelly Stieler, Lake Orion, Michigan
  2nd – Vaughan Ling, Miami, Florida
  3rd – Timothy Mann, Minneapolis, Minnesota

• Tire/Wheel Concept
  1st – Kelly Stieler, Lake Orion, Michigan
  2nd – Jose Casas, Mexico City, Mexico
  3rd – Timothy Mann, Minneapolis, Minnesota

The winners were chosen by a diverse panel of judges, including:  Joe Dehner and Jeff Aneiros from Chrysler, Brad Richards from Ford, Sung Paik from General Motors and Bob Miron and Ken Payne from Michelin.

The winner's designs will be displayed at a special Michelin exhibit at the 2011 North American International Auto Show.  They will join 34 other designs representing 22 different countries selected in the global Michelin Challenge Design competition at the auto show.
