Governor Rick Snyder To Seek Re-election
GRAND RAPIDS (WWJ) - It wasn't quite a formal announcement, but Michigan Governor Rick Snyder has made it clear he plans to seek a second term.
Lansing Bureau Chief Tim Skubick said Snyder put an end Thursday to whispers that he might be a "one-and-done" governor.
"In recent days there's been speculation that Rick Snyder might retire after his four years in office," Skubick said.
"Forget that. In Grand Rapids this day he said it's his intention to seek a second term if the Michigan voters will have him," said Skubick. "Indeed, he even underscored the point, saying that his family has already signed off."
"Snyder's in it for the long haul," added Skubick.
The governor has faced opposition to some of his policies during his first term, and has been the target of a recall petition. Snyder has said that he isn't bothered by the recall effort, saying it's "part of democracy."
