Gov. Snyder: Innovation Is Key To Education

EAST LANSING (WWJ) - Governor Rick Snyder says he wants to reinvent education to increase the number of students who are ready for college. Snyder spoke Monday at the Governor's Education Summit at Michigan State University.

"We should be embracing change as an opportunity to be the best. Because we have the best talent. We have fabulous teachers and educators, who are truly dedicated people that want to make their career educating our children. Many of you are here, and I say thank you for that," Snyder said.

Snyder said innovation is the key to a better educational system in Michigan.

"How do we modify those skill sets?  How do we come together and work in new and different ways, to better succeed? And that's what this is all about -- a new approach to things, a new outlook," he said.

Governor Snyder said he'll lay out specific proposals during an address Wednesday in Detroit.
