Four Michigan Men Vie For Fan Cave Spot At SportsFest
You may not know yet who Jay Tuohey, Brad Jeffers, Angelo Fileccia or Michael Heidnar are -- but they think you'll know them, or at least one of them, soon.
The foursome are competing to spend a year in the MLB Fan Cave, a swanky apartment in Greenwich Village, New York, where they would watch every single Major League Baseball game this summer. They would be filmed for www.MLBFanCave.com.
Instead of battling each other, the four Michigan finalists banded together with a booth at 97.1 The Ticket's SportsFest in Novi where they lobbied for votes. Whoever gets the most votes could join the cast of six or more in New York.
So, why should you vote for one of them? Here's their pitch:
"I'd like to think of myself as an atypical fan," Tuohey said, adding that he rooted for the Tigers when they had losing seasons, when they had no superstars, when all seemed lost. "I just love this game, I love this team, I love this city."
Fileccia, of Brownstown, said he should be put in the Fan Cave because "I'm the most entertaining fan out there...And the stadium is my home away from home."
Heidner, of Brownstown, said he's been a baseball fan since the day he was born, with generations of Tigers fans behind him.
"I was born and raised a baseball fan," he said. "I'm already watching every game...And Detroit already owns New York, so they should put a Detroiter out there."
Brad Jeffers, of Macomb Township, even if he doesn't win, said life will be good this summer for Tigers fans.
"I'm living the dream...How else is there to say it?" he said.
