Former Detroit Detective Gets 2-20 Years In Criminal Case
DETROIT (AP) - A former high-ranking Detroit police homicide investigator has been sentenced to 2 to 20 years behind bars for conducting a criminal enterprise.
The Wayne County prosecutor's office says Bill Rice was sentenced on Thursday, as was a co-defendant, Cheryl Sanford.
Rice and Sanford entered guilty pleas late last year. They were accused of conducting a criminal enterprise from 2006 to 2011 and providing false information on property to obtain federal funds to quality for mortgages.
Rice will serve two to 20 years on the conducting a criminal enterprise count as well as two counts of perjury. He also must pay $100,000 in restitution.
Sanford was sentenced to a year in jail, five years of probation and $100,000 in restitution.
