Final Chapter For Borders Bookstore In Ann Arbor

ANN ARBOR (WWJ) - It's the end of an era in Ann Arbor.  WWJ Newsradio 950's Beth Fisher reports you won't be able to shop at the flagship Borders bookstore on Tuesday.

Monday was the final day for shoppers in the 37,000 square foot store in downtown Ann Arbor.

Tom and Louis Borders founded the book store in Ann Arbor 40 years ago, and it grew to hundreds of stores nationwide.

But, Borders ran into financial trouble after failing to adjust to the shift to digital books and online music shopping.

Borders Group Inc. filed for bankruptcy in February and decided to liquidate in July.
