Experience 'Sundance Film Festival' In Ann Arbor
ANN ARBOR (WWJ) Here's your chance to enjoy part of the Sundance Film Festival without having to travel to Utah. The Michigan Theater in Ann Arbor has been chosen to screen two Sundance Films, as well as a series of short films.
Michigan Theatre director Russ Collins spoke with WWJ's Greg Bowman and says it's a real honor to be chosen as only one of nine movie houses in the country to be hosting Sundance Festival USA.
"You can dispense with the cost of the airfare and accomodations....it's a total bargain and you really do get the total Sundance experience, Ann Arbor is actually the biggest venue of any venue in the country that is playing the Sundance Film Festival program."
Collins added, "We are the only theatre in the country that has two Sundance film programs playing during the festival, it's a great honor, a great privilege, and we are proud to bring it to the Detroit area, for their enjoyment, enlightenment and a little taste of the Sundance Film Festival right here in southeastern Michigan."
The Sundance Shorts are being screened (January 23-26) Sunday through Wednesday. "Win Win," starring Paul Giamatti, is being shown Thursday, January 27th. "Cedar Rapids," which was actually filmed in Ann Arbor, is on the big screen on Friday night.
Tickets are nine dollars for the short films, and 15 dollars for the feature films. Tickets available at the door and at ticketmaster.com.
