Learn About Lawrence Tech's Health IT Management Program July 28: Learn how earning a graduate certificate in health IT management can lead to a job in the growing health services field at an information session on Thursday, July 28, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Lawrence Technological University, 21000 West Ten Mile Road, Southfield. The information session will be held in room M336 of the Buell Management Building. RSVP to mgt-srm@ltu.edu or (248) 204-3050. According to a recent report from the U.S. Department of Labor, the healthcare industry added an average of 20,000 jobs per month in 2010. One impetus for job growth is the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, which requires every health care system that treats Medicare patients to show meaningful use of electronic health records by the end of 2014. Lawrence Tech's certificate in health IT management addresses the demand for skilled workers in this field. It has been designed to meet the needs of clinical workers who want to transition into the IT field or IT workers who would like to pursue a career in health IT management. The health IT management certificate may be completed with a minimum of 12 credit hours. Graduates of this program should have the skill set for positions requiring knowledge of management, medical terminologies, health care terminologies, health care business requirements, health care laws, systems analysis, data management, and technical support. Health IT management courses can also be taken as a concentration in several degree programs -- an MBA, a master's degree in information systems, a bachelor's degree in information technology, and a bachelor's degree in business management. More information about the certificate program can be found at https://www.ltu.edu/management/healthitmgt.asp .
