UM Sets Student Startup Showcase: After months of hard work, pivoting, prototyping and engaging potential customers, more than 40 University of Michigan Student teams will be in attendance to share their novel businesses. The cohort of TechArb teams will also pitch their startups to angel investors, venture capitalists and local entrepreneurs at this event on April 2. The event runs from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at 500 E. Online Tech Hosts Cloud Computing Security Webinar with UHY: Continuing its commitment to offering educational cloud computing Webinars and seminars, Online Tech will host a free Webinar, "Controlling the Cloud," on Tuesday, April 12 at 2 p.m. Eastern time. David Barton, Principal of UHY Advisors, will lead the presentation that will explore the unique risks associated with cloud computing and provide suggestions for addressing them. In addition, this session will explore the newest reporting standards for controls at service organizations. Specifically, Service Organization Control (SOC) audits, the new standard that will replace the current standard, SAS 70. Barton is the practice leader of the Technology Assurance and Advisory Services group at UHY Advisors, Inc. in Atlanta, Ga. He is certified in Risk and Information Systems Controls (CRISC) and received his Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) designation in 1988. With more than 25 years of practical experience in information systems and technology risk and controls, he is an expert in identifying and reducing information technology risk throughout an organization. Hosted by Online Tech, "Controlling the Cloud" will be the sixth Webinar from the managed data center operator this year. In addition to the series of educational webinars, Online Tech also hosted a cloud computing seminar in Southfield last month and plans on hosting another metro Detroit cloud computing seminar in June.
