Evacuation, shelter orders lifted in Berkley after repairs at gas main break
Residents within a block of Catalpa and Bacon in Berkley were told to shelter or evacuate after a gas main break on Monday.
The City of Berkley issued that notice about 9:45 a.m. Monday morning, saying its public safety officers were at the site of a gas main break at the southeast corner of Catalpa and Bacon. The all-clear notice was issued shortly after 2 p.m.
"The evacuation order has been lifted, and those in the area no longer need to stay indoors with the windows shut. The intersection of Catalpa and Bacon will remain closed for cleanup work this afternoon," city officials said about 2 p.m.
