Doug Karsch: The Lions' Unsung Hero

Time to give some credit to these guys... the Detroit Lions' offensive line. The Lions have allowed just six sacks through five games -- and have allowed just one sack outside of the game against Jared Allen and the Minnesota Vikings. Only TWO teams in the league have allowed fewer sacks ... and get this... the Lions are fifth in the NFL in pass attempts.

Given how much scrutiny the Lions O-Line came under after last year's injuries to Matt Stafford and Shaun Hill -- that's a pretty impressive stat.

Additionally, while Detroit was all excited about Jhavid Best's 163 yards rushing -- how about the job the O-line did opening those holes? Remember the Lions only rushed for 20 yards in their opener against the Bears last year.

They've taken their share of heat, but Backus, Peterman, Raiola, Sims, Cherilus and Hilliard deserve kudos now. They've been a strength in pass-protection and did a great job run blocking Monday night.
