--Pavel Datsyuk returned to the lineup after missing seven games with a lower-body injury and made an immediate impact. Though he had only one point (an assist), he put pressure on the Wild defense and created scoring chances with his stick-handling and puck-controlling abilities.

--Mike Modano was a healthy scratch as coach Mike Babcock opted to rest the 40-year-old center with the team playing its second game in as many days. This means Modano will not be able to reach the 1,500-game mark this season, which could be his last. He has played in 1,496 games. The Wings have three games remaining.
