Detroit Pastors: We Support Snyder
A group of black pastors in Detroit have announced their support for Michigan Republican gubernatorial candidate Rick Snyder. The group led by Rev. Jerome Warfield of Mount Vernon Missionary Baptist Church also expressed the need for job creation in the city during an announcement Friday at Snyder's Detroit headquarters.
The announcement comes ahead of Tuesday's general election, when voters will select a new governor.
Snyder is running against Lansing Mayor Virg Bernero. Bernero says he has the support of the Council of Baptist Pastors, a group representing more than 150 Detroit-area churches and other clergy.
Harley Mikkelson of the Green Party, Stacey Mathia of the U.S. Taxpayers Party and Libertarian Ken Proctor also are in the race.
