Spirits were high 150 summers ago when the famed "First Michigan Infantry Regiment" led the Union Army across the Mason-Dixon Line to make quick work of the Southern Rebellion.
The smashing of those high hopes led to Detroiter Orlando Willcox winning the Congressional Medal of Honor while the men he commanded braced themselves for 4 years of relentless fighting.
