Defroster Issue Prompts GM Recall
DETROIT (WWJ/AP) - A defroster problem prompting General Motors to recall some of its newest and most popular vehicles.
The company is calling back 10 thousand 2011 Buick LaCrosse sedans and Cadillac SRX crossovers to fix a software glitch that could prevent the defroster from clearing the windshield.
GM says the software in the electronic climate control module could disable the ability to adjust and control the defroster and affect the driver's visibility.
General Motors says it does not know of any crashes or injuries connected to the recall.
Dealers will reprogram the module for free. The recall is expected to begin by March 11.
Owners can contact Buick at (866) 608-8080, Cadillac at (866) 982-2339 or http://www.gmownercenter.com.
