Dearborn Heights police enact zero-tolerance policy for threats related to Israel-Hamas war

(CBS DETROIT) - The Department Heights Police Department announced they would be enacting a zero-tolerance policy toward any type of threat of intimidation made due to the Israel-Hamas conflict.

As the department monitors the conflict's local impact, they continue to work to keep residents safe.

"We are working closely with our County, State and Federal officials so that we can take proactive measures to ensure the safety and well-being of all members of the Dearborn Heights community," said Dearborn Heights Director of Police Operations Kevin Swope. "Our police officers continue to be active in the community and are committed to providing a safe place for residents to learn, worship, shop, conduct business and reside. In these trying times, it is important for everyone in our community to be respectful and patient with everyone who many call Dearborn Heights their home."

According to Swope, the Dearborn Heights Police Department has enacted a zero-tolerance policy for any person or group that is involved in any type of threat, intimidation or criminal activity based on race, ethnicity, religion or political beliefs.

"I would ask that all residents to be mindful of their surroundings and report any suspicious situations or individuals violating this to the Dearborn Heights Police Department by calling 313-277-6770 or 911 in case of a life-threatening emergency," said Swope. "Thank you all for helping our department continue its mission to make the City of Dearborn Heights a safe place for all residents."
