Dairy Queen Takes Part In Fundraiser For Children's Miracle Network

DETROIT (WWJ) - This Thursday, if you buy a blizzard from Dairy Queen, the ice cream shop will donate a portion of the proceeds to Beaumont Children's Hospital.

It's all part of Dairy Queen's 6th annual national "Miracle Treat Day."

Tom McGannon with the Beaumont Foundation says every penny helps.

"For every other child that comes to Beaumont ... one in two, is somehow impacted by Miracle Networks funds that we raise- that's pediatric patient scholarships, that's speciality equipment that we purchase, that's life saving for patients," said McGannon.

"Any dollar we raise has such a large impact on our community and events like this are so helpful," he said.

McGannon says that the one day event is expected to raise about $30,000.

Miracle Treat Day takes place all day Thursday at participating Dairy Queen locations. It applies to blizzards only in any size.

The Dairy Queen system is one of the top 10 contributors to Children's Miracle Network Hospitals having raised more than $92 million since 1984.
