Could Cabrera's All Star Game Injury Cost The Tigers?
Last night's All-Star game could have hurt the Tigers. Miguel Cabrera's tweaked oblique muscle sent him out of the game early.
An injury like this can linger for a while for power hitters if they're not feeling 100%. However, after the game, Cabrera said he felt "fine."
Let's hope he is "fine," because Cabrera needs to be healthy if the Tigers want to distance themselves from the Cleveland Indians in the second half of the season.
Cabrera's offensive production is vital to the Tigers success down the stretch. Jim Leyland needs to make sure Cabrera is absolutely healthy before he puts him back into the lineup. If Cabrera aggravates or causes more problems to his oblique muscle, it could keep him out even longer.
There have been several MLB players with the same type of injury who were out of the lineup for several weeks.
At this point, it is still too early to tell whether Cabrera will be ready to go for this weekend's big series versus the Chicago White Sox.
