Commuters Beware: Stretch Of I-275 Shut Down Amid $80M Overhaul
FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. (AP) — Part of Interstate 275 in the Detroit area is shut down until July amid an $80 million overhaul.
WWJ-AM reports southbound lanes were closed Monday to replace concrete on I-275 between the interchange with I-96, I-696 and M-5 stretching to 5 Mile. The Michigan Department of Transportation has created a website for the project to offer updates about road closures and other information.
The Detroit News reports preliminary work started in April on weekends and weeknights. Northbound lanes are to close from July to September.
MDOT says delays and heavy traffic are expected on the detour route and local roads. The project involves work in the Farmington Hills, Novi and Livonia areas.
