Children Get More Than Hair Replacement At Wigs For Kids
When Maggie Varney started Wigs for Kids it was to literally put wigs on the children's heads Now it has become much more meaningful to her -- and the positive impact for the families and her clients has been clear.
Narissa Richardson's 3-year-old daughter Kendall has a condition that causes her to lose her hair. Richardson struggled to find help for her child until she learned about Wigs for Kids.
"You don't even know how much it has boosted her confidence working with Wigs for Kids," said Richardson.
Varney explains why hair replacements are so critical for some children, "It's about self-esteem. It's about fitting in. When you're a kid -- you just want to be a normal kid and look like everybody else and fit into society and be able to go out in public and not be scared."
"When they look in the mirror -- they want to look back at somebody they recognize," she added.
People have asked her why she does the unique work and to Varney. Working with children is special she explains in that, "Each one leaves an imprint on your heart."
