Cheese Recalled In Colorado, After E. coli Found

Mauri brand Gorgonzola cheese sold by Costco Wholesale Stores in Colorado is being recalled because potentially deadly E. coli bacteria has been found in the product.

A statement by DPI Specialty Foods of Tualatin, Ore., says the recalled cheese is packaged in clear plastic in approximately 1-pound wedges.

The package carries a white sticker that reads: ``Distributed by DPI Specialty Foods Tualatin, Ore., ITALY 34449'' with sell-by dates of 01/13/11 or 01/14/11.

The distributor says that the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has not received any reports of illnesses and that testing will indicate whether this bacterial strain is linked to illnesses.

Consumers may contact DPI Specialty Foods at 1-800-597-3876.
