Charlie Langton: Where Are Conservative Black Voters?
Conservative black blogger Stacy Swimp joined Charlie to discuss the implications of conservative black voters on the GOP primary. Why do black Americans typically vote Democratic ? What does Swimp predict for the upcoming primary? Swimp believes turnout at the polls will be poor because people are disillusioned with politics and the relationships have not been forged with the Republican candidates. He says that while the candidates have no responsibility to have an urban agenda, they also aren't speaking to the urban community and fighting for their votes. Swimp said Republicans should be speaking to everybody about their ideas and solutions and need to sell themselves to black voters but they're not doing this. As Charlie points out, Republicans never go into urban areas like Detroit, visit the churches, and speak. Santorum would be a natural fit to do this, would get huge press if he did this, but won't.
Swimp also said that Detroit needs to fix its own corruption and inefficiency, break the union strongholds, and must promote public safety, families and education.
