Charlie Langton: Should Michigan Return $500M To State, School Employees?
Charlie Langton spoke with state Rep. Maureen Stapleton, D-Detroit, about the fact that the state is holding $500 million in escrow that has been withheld from state and school district employee paychecks, money that the courts have so far ruled was taken out of their paychecks illegally.
The Snyder administration is appealing the latest ruling to the state Supreme Court. Stapleton said Snyder should stop the appeals and give the money back. She says it would be a boon to the Michigan economy to have that money in workers' hands so they can spend it in Michigan restaurants, stores, etc. Do you agree?
