Caputo: Stafford Brings 'The Drive' To Detroit
On a day when the nation was fixated on Tim Tebow in Denver, Matthew Stafford pulled a John Elway in Oakland.
It was his version of The Drive. A tremendous impersonation of Elway's legendary 98-yard TD drive for Denver at Cleveland in the 1986 AFC title game.
Any question about whether Stafford is a legitimate franchise quarterback, or if wide receiver Calvin Johnson is truly one of the NFL's elite players, were answered Sunday as the Lions' all-but-sealed a spot in the playoffs for the first time since 1999 with a 28-27 triumph.
Yeah. The Lions went 98 yards on the winning drive late in the fourth quarter. For certain. Stafford was brilliant, time after time hitting Johnson with key passes.
