Body Found Inside Detroit House Gutted By Fire
DETROIT (WWJ) - Detroit firefighters were called to a house fire overnight on the city's west side. But after they discovered a body inside, they called homicide investigators.
WWJ's Ron Dewey, reporting from the scene, said according to neighbors, a 37-year-old man was squatting in an otherwise abandoned house at the corner of West Chicago and Petoskey. He apparently had been shot several weeks earlier, but survived.
The cause of his death remains under investigation, but his body was found inside the house that was gutted by the fire. The identity of the victim has not been released at this time.
