Bill's Blog: Are Kids Getting Wimpy?

For the second day in a row, Metro Detroit kids have the day off because of the frigid temperatures and the massive amount of snow we received. OK, maybe not so massive. Where I live, we probably got 3 inches of snow. Hardly worthy of a day off, much less two! Now, this isn't one of those, "back in my day" stories. No, this is one of those, "My god, when did kids become so wimpy" stories. I can gaurantee you that we wouldn't have had ONE day off because of this weather. I don't know if it's that school administrators just want the day off or if they are worried about complaints if little Bobby or Susie get a runny nose from walking to school on a cold day!...WIMPS, I say! How did we ever get through life without everybody getting an at-bat? Or playing baseball with no outs? Let's give everybody a participation ribbon for having the guts to get into their car this morning and go to work.
