Eternal Piercing is part of the Eternal Tattoos brand, which was founded by Terry Walker in 1980. He also created Eternal Inks, and he has now expanded to five shops: Livonia, Taylor, Clawson, Howell and Eastpointe. The Livonia shop has a reputation for being very clean/sterile, and customers have only good things to say about the shop. Ironclad Tattoo Co. is located near the corner of Rochester Road and Wattles (aka 17 Mile), and offers piercing services as well as tattooing. The two piercing artists at Ironclad are Mike Moore and Chase Suarez, and you can see photos of both of their work on Ironclad's website. The shop has a large selection of jewelry for when you get pierced, and the employees are very helpful in answering any questions that you may have. Ironclad is open noon to 8 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays, and noon through 5 p.m. on Sundays.

Lady Luck is located on M-59 between Crescent Lake Road and Airport Road, and is open every day except Tuesday, usually until 8 p.m. (Monday, Wednesday, Thursday) or 9 p.m. (Friday), with the exception being 6 p.m. on Sundays. The shop does both tattoos and piercings, and the staff is knowledgeable about the "after care" for your piercing, as well as what products you can use on/with it. Lady Luck's piercing room is private, as well, and also very clean/sterile.

Chroma is located near the corner of Northwestern and Orchard Lake Road, and piercings are normally around $40, although prices vary based on the spot being pierced — recently there was a $25 promo online. Barb Jones is the resident piercer, and you can see examples of her work at Chroma's website. All of Chroma's jewelry meets ASTM (Association for the Standardizing and Testing of Materials) medical implant grade standards, and it also carries products made from organic materials (ie, bloodwood, ebony, etc.). It's website also has a section called "Tattoo and Piercing 101," which is good to read before you get a piercing (or tattoo) for the first time.

You can find 9 Lives Tattoo right in the heart of downtown Ferndale (9 Mile/Woodward area), and it offers piercing as well, with surgical steel jewelry and a constantly rotating jewelry selection. The shop opened in 2012, and was founded on "the basic principles of showcasing [our] artists' creativity and treating [our] customers with the utmost respect."
