CMS-Detroit was designed to jumpstart youth development and to encourage life skills for those of all ages with its music education and music therapy programs. The research-based curriculums include childhood classes for infants to age seven, a pre-instrumental class for ages seven to nine and a class for ages nine to 15 for those who want to learn an instrument or refine their existing skills. Along with childhood development classes, there are several adult classes as well that include learning piano, guitar and bass. Financial aid is available for those who qualify.

Grosse Pointe Music Academy features an array of classes for children and adults. The Music Together course is a great deal to get all siblings involved with music. For $199 ($139 in summer), kids receive 10 classes and materials to complete the course. An additional sibling costs $129 ($79 in summer), and the third child is free. Private lessons include several instrument training courses, voice training and a songwriter course. Music camps are also offered through the academy, along with guitar repair.
