Best Lasagna In Detroit

There are a lot of restaurants in the Detroit area that serve pasta, and even more that serve lasagna specifically. Which are serving up the best? Check this list to find out.
Roman Village Cucina Italiana
9924 Dix Ave.
Dearborn, MI 48120
(313) 842-2100

Roman Village is located in Dearborn and has a reputation for fantastic bread, as well as lasagna. The Rugiero family owns both Antonio's and Roman Village, and they have been family-owned/operated since 1964. Cannoli and pastas are all homemade, and its Canton location also has homemade gelato. Its lasagna features freshly-made noodles with cheese in a meat sauce. If Dearborn is a bit far for you, the other locations include two other Antonio's Cucina Italianas in Canton and Farmington Hills.

Roma Cafe
3401 Riopelle St.
Detroit, MI 48207
(313) 831-5940

Its lasagna has been called "gooey," "cheesy" and "delicious," and Roma Cafe is also the oldest restaurant still operating in Detroit: it's been dishing up Italian food since 1980. The current owner, Janet Sossi Belcoure, frequently travels to Italy, and the menu's signature dishes are veal and pasta, with ingredients from Detroit's Eastern Market. The restaurant also offers free valet parking, and a shuttle service to most sports or entertainment events in the area, such as Red Wings, Tigers games, etc. The baked lasagna ($16) includes meat sauce and Ricotta cheese, and all pasta dishes include a cup of soup.

Firenze Restaurant & Pizzeria
11028 E. 10 Mile Road
Warren, MI 48089
(586) 757-5400

Firenze Restaurant & Pizzeria opened in 1964 by Pasquale and Maria Rocca, the parents of current owner, John Rocca. The restaurant is known for its pizza and pasta dishes, as well as its eggplant parmesan, and you can dine-in, take-out or do catering. The lasagna is very reasonably priced, at $9.75, and consists of ground beef, Firenze meat sauce, melted mozzarella and pasta layers. Marinara sauce can be substituted for the meat sauce if you like. The restaurant is located at the corner of E. 10 Mile and Marigold, close to Van Dyke.

Pegasus Taverna
558 Monroe St.
Detroit, MI 48226
(313) 964-6800

You might not think to go to a Greek restaurant for good lasagna, but Pegasus has an interesting recipe that's different from your typical Italian fare. The restaurant has been family-run for over 24 years, and was founded when the area used to be called "Trappers Alley," rather than its current "Greektown." The lasagna dish is called Pastitio ($11.95) and includes "baked macaroni with spinach, sauteed onions, dill, mint, cheeses, and seasonings," and is topped with a bechamel sauce. Pegasus has another location on Jefferson Avenue in St. Clair Shores, as well.

Traffic Jam & Snug
511 W. Canfield St.
Detroit, MI 48201
(313) 831-9470

Traffic Jam & Snug might not be known for lasagna, but it offers a vegetarian spinach lasagna on the menu that locals love. Make sure you get a basket of its fresh bread, too, which is made in-house. It also has bread for sale near the front door. The lasagna is baked and includes spinach, Ricotta and mozzarella cheese, as well as marinara sauce. Traffic Jam & Snug is located south of Wayne State, and there is street parking as well as a small parking lot nearby.
